Home Genius employees celebrate their longtime sponsorship of the Ronald McDonald House Washington DC Red Shoe 5K

More Than a Sponsor: How Home Genius Continues to Show Up for Families

Every year, when thousands of runners gather for the Red Shoe 5K, one team is easy to spot.

The Home Genius team.

Year after year, employees lace up their running shoes, volunteer their time and proudly support Ronald McDonald House Washington DC. Their commitment extends far beyond race day. Whether helping improve our Houses, investing in our mission or encouraging employees to get involved, Home Genius has become a cherished part of our community.

This kind of partnership matters.

Because every family staying at Ronald McDonald House Washington DC is facing one of the most difficult chapters of their lives. Thanks to partners like Home Genius, families can stay close to the medical care their child needs while finding comfort, community and support when they need it most.

Sometimes, though, the impact of a partnership reaches even further than anyone expects.

A Personal Connection

For one Home Genius employee, supporting Ronald McDonald House Washington DC became personal in a way he never expected.

Earlier this year, Sekayi Brown and his family welcomed a new baby girl. But instead of bringing her home right away, she began her life in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

During that difficult and uncertain time, Sekayi met several families whose babies were also receiving care. Nearly five of them shared that they were staying at Ronald McDonald House.

At first, he didn’t fully understand what that meant.

But as Sekayi spent more time in the hospital and learned about the House, he began to understand the vital role it plays for families facing some of the most challenging moments of their lives — providing a place to stay, support, and a sense of community when families may not have the resources to be close to their children.

That experience gave Home Genius Cares an entirely new meaning for him.

“I love that we support this charity, and that we’re able to give back in this way.”

His experience with his daughter and the families he met reminded him just how much a little support can mean when a family is going through something no parent ever expects.

And that’s why being able to support Ronald McDonald House through Home Genius Cares feels so personal.

“Home Genius Exteriors is committed to putting people first and showing up where people need you most. Ronald McDonald House Charities gives families a place to feel supported during some of their hardest days, and I’m proud that Home Genius Exteriors gets to stand beside them.”

Partnerships Create Ripple Effects

Home Genius may have set out to sponsor a race.

To volunteer.

To improve our Houses.

To give back to families.

What they also created was something impossible to plan.

A connection that inspired one of their own employees to come home again.

Richard’s story reminds us that the impact of a corporate partnership can’t always be measured in volunteer hours, sponsorship dollars or completed projects.

Sometimes the greatest impact is found in the lives that reconnect with a place that once changed everything.
